Sam Smith habla sobre Writing’s on the Wall

intérprete de ‘Writing’s On the Wall’.
humilde, sonrprendente y deliciosamente divertido.

Tú ves a James Bond sangrar,
caer y ser golpeado”.

«Writing’s On The Wall» ha recibido
ustedes?

“I came out as gay when I was ten, no, wait, I think I came out as gay when I came out of my mom,” laughs Sam Smith, singer/songwriter of the Spectre theme song, Writing’s on the Wall. “I found it very scary in the beginning because people hadn’t been openly gay in the pop market and released music saying it was about a guy.” In a season jammed with back-to-back interviews, press conferences, junkets, red carpets, sound bites, movie stars, publicists, and endless sound bites, my personal stand out encounter with a star, without a doubt, is this multiple Grammy winner – sweet, sincere, self-effacing, surprising and deliciously funny.

“It’s been a dream of mine since I was a little boy to do a Bond song,” he continues. “Well first of all the first thing, when they told me the title of the film, I said I cannot write a song called Spectre. There are not a lot of things that rhyme with Spectre so I couldn’t do that (laughing.) But the main challenge was that James Bond is a sound. Everyone knows when they hear a James Bond theme, because it sounds like a James Bond theme. So you need to capture that and figure out what it is and I mean for me I feel like it’s the epicness of the production and the epicness of the orchestration. If you hear my music, you know my music is my diary, it’s how I write. It’s just the way I am as a person and I have a melancholy side to me, human, and I get it out with my music. I get my sadness and personal feelings out in my music. I wanted this to be a Sam Smith Bond song, so I tried to basically make James Bond seem a little bit more vulnerable, which kind of links into the way Daniel Craig is and you see Bond bleed and you see him bruised and failing sometimes.”

The song has met with mixed reviews (as has the film) from some critics and Bond fans, but personally I like it. Your thoughts?
