¿Han visto la campaña de la loción Dior de Johnny Depp? ¿Qué opinan? Digo, no es tan embarazosa como el comercial de Chanel de Brad Pitt, pero de todas maneras, piénsenlo ¿En verdad querrían oler cómo Johnny Depp?¿O Johnny Depp como Captain Jack o el infame gangster Whitey Bulgar? Ciertamente no se crea un olor obscuro, misterioso y romantico en mi imaginación…
«Te diré por qué lo hice», ríe la estrella de Black Mass. «Lo hice porque nunca había hecho algo similar y nunca me había interesado, pero la gente de Dior, una mujer en particular que trabaja en Dior que he conocido durante mucho tiempo, escencialmente dijo que podía tener el control. Y luego ahí estaba Jean Baptiste Mondino, quien es alguien que admiro mucho porque hace cosas increíblemente irreverentes, y conociendo que Ry Cooder, el guitarrista, iba a estar involucrado e iba a poder tocar guitarra con él, todo cayó en su sitio. Ni siquiera sabía en el momento que se iba a llamar Sauvage (salvaje). Pero lo sentí como hecho puesto que era una fragancia en la que iba a estar yo representándola y pensé que Sauvage era bastante preciso. (Ríe en fuerte) Pero en verdad lo disfruté. Y lo chistoso es que hacer ese pequeño audiovisual con Jean Baptiste es más satisfactorio, personalmente, que hacer una película en donde todo tiene que tener sentido y todo tiene que ir embonando matemáticamente y debe de tener esto y tu mencionas esto, y es como Chekov y si enseñas un revólver en el primer acto tienes que saber que va a salir en el tercero. Pero si estás haciendo estos pequeños comerciales o cortometrajes, lo que sea, nada tiene que tener sentido. Y (se ríe otra vez) prefiero eso.»

Have you seen Johnny Depp’s Dior men’s cologne campaign?
What do you think? I mean, it’s not as embarrassing a Brad Pitt’s Chanel
commercial but still, think about it, would you really want to smell like
Johnny Depp? Or Johnny Depp as Captain Jack or infamous gangster Whitey Bulgar?
It certainly doesn’t conjure up dark, mysterious and romantic smells in my
imagination…
“I will tell you why I did it,” laughs the Black Mass star.
“I did it because I had never done anything like that and it sort of never
interested me, but the Dior people, one particular woman who works at Dior that
I have known for a long time, said essentially that I could have control. And then there was Jean Baptiste Mondino who
is someone that I really admire because he makes fantastically irreverent
things, and knowing that Ry Cooder, the guitarist was going to be involved and
I was going to be able to play some slide guitar with him, everything kind of
fell into place. I am not even sure at the time that I knew it was going to be called Sauvage. But I felt the fact if they
were going to call a fragrance and have me as it’s representative, I thought
Sauvage was pretty accurate. (laughs out loud) But I really enjoyed it. And the funny thing is doing that
little film with Jean Baptiste, it’s almost more satisfying personally than doing
a film where, in a film everything has to make sense and everything must
come together mathematically and there must be this and you mention this and
it’s like Chekov and if you show a revolver in the first act you know it’s
going off in the third. But when you are doing these kind of little commercial things
or short films, whatever, nothing has to make sense. And (laughing again) I
